A reminder of the Masonic Stamp Exhibition to be held in the Guildhall, Plymouth on Thursday 20th July, 10am until 4pm.
W. Bro. Trevor Fray, PPrJGW, and President of the Masonic Philatelic Society (MPS), would add that there will be mint sets of Masonic Stamps from the Isle of Man Post Office. The stamps, issued 11th May, are in royal blue with a series of Masonic Jewels (the Cornucopia, two swords in saltire, dove and olive branch, plumb rule, level and square).
The stamps also mark the 50th anniversary of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Kent as our Grand Master. Apparently the stamps also contain some “hidden mysteries”, some only visible under ultraviolet light. They will be sold at face value (20p, 47p, 50p, £1.30, £1.74 and £3.40 – you can do the arithmetic!!) and 20% of the sales (of these and some additional First Day Covers) will be returned by the IoM Post Office for charity.
The MPS chosen charity is Onaway Birmingham Children’s Hospital Scout and Guide group, which provides activities for terminally ill children.
The stamps would be a nice memento of the Tercentenary Celebrations (and who, knows, might accrue in value over time).
