To mark the final duty of his year as Worshipful Master of St. Michael’s Lodge, Dawlish. W. Brother Keith Meager with his wife Helen hosted an event to present cheques to Cancer Lifeline South West his chosen charity for 2016/17 and also the Masonic Teddies for Loving Care, who have given over 43,000 teddies to children who become stressed during visits to the emergency departments of hospitals including Torbay, RDNE Exeter, North Devon and Derriford Plymouth.
At social events held throughout the year, as well as at regular lodge meetings, a total of £1,500.00 was raised for Cancer Lifeline South West (http://www.cancer-lifeline.org/. registered Charity No. 1107775).), a local charity based in Torquay who support cancer patients and their families through weekend breaks away which include therapy and pampering sessions.
Keith wishes to thank and acknowledge the support of St. Michaels Lodge members, in particular their Charity Steward, Brother Robert Buckley, who, in addition to supporting him through the year, prepared a submission to the Masonic “WAKE Fund” which has resulted in an additional award of £1200 which will be presented in November by Right Worshipful Brother Ian Kingsbury JP, Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Devonshire.
During the year Keith received from W. Brother Keith Bower, one of a donated collection of Special Limited Addition Harrods Teddy Bears. A prize draw was organised and a total of £450.00 was raised. The draw took place at St. Michaels Ladies festival on Saturday 4th March 2017, with the winner of the bear being Mrs Julie Sclater.
