Harmony Chapter No. 156 celebrated their 150th year as a Chapter in the Province of Devonshire on Friday January 8th 2016 at The Queen Victoria Masonic Hall St Budeaux Plymouth. The three Principals were E.Comp. A. Blamey (Z), E.Comp. N. Nicholls (H) and E.Comp. G.N. Spencer (J). On this special occasion supported by a large number of Grand and Provincial Grand Chapter Officers was E.Comp. Simon Rowe, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent; E. Comp. Gerald W. Watson, 2nd Provincial Grand Principal; E.Comp. Anthony Morrell, 3rd Provincial Grand Principal and E.Comp John Sevieri, Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and a member of the Chapter. The meeting started with the opening address which was given by Comp. Brendan Brookshaw, Senior Sojourner. After confirming the minutes of the last regular meeting the minutes of 100 years were read by E.Comp Peter Brookshaw , farther of the Senior Soj. Brendan Brookshaw.

The celebration meeting commenced with E. Comp Richard Spencer, Provincial Assistant Grand Scribe Ezra reading the minutes of 150 years ago. After which The Symbolic lecture in Catechetical form was given. E. Comp. N. Nicholls, Haggai conducted the questions to; Companions S.P. Brooks, P. Brookshaw, R.W. Spencer, P. Brookshaw, N. L. Yarde, W.R. Rickard, B.P. Brookshaw and C. K. Lewis.

A Presentation and Dedication then took place of a new Chapter Trowel by E. Comp. Anthony Morrell 3rd Provincial Grand Principal, this was followed by a presentation and Dedication of a new set of Altar letters by E. Comp. Joe Sevieri Jnr. Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah also a member of the Chapter. E. Comp. John Sevieri PGStdB, Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies then presented a Supreme Grand Chapter Certificate with a full explanation to Comp. Leaves. After the business of the evening the Closing address was then given by E.Comp Nick Nicholls.

At the festive board there was a giant cake made by Sam Lounds, the chef of Queen Victoria Hall with a copy of the Chapter Jewel on it to mark 150 years. The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent replied to the toast given to him to wish Harmony a Happy Birthday. “What a wonderful evening we have all had tonight, many congratulations to all those Companions who took part in doing a superb job. The Founders of this lovely Chapter will be well pleased of the way we have all today celebrated 150 years of Harmony Chapter” He then continued to thank individually all those who took part as well as welcoming Comp. Martin Leaves into Harmony Chapter, receiving his Grand Chapter Certificate. Summing up the MEGS said “We all come to Royal Arch Chapter because we all enjoy our Royal Arch Masonry” True words indeed and a great achievement for Harmony Chapter No.156, continuously working for 150 years. A fantastic evening, and one that all of us will remember for many years to come.
