st johns long service charityThursday 6th July 2018 saw a momentous evening for the Lodge unfold. Possibly never seen before in the Lodge 259 year history!

Four esteemed brethren celebrated long service to freemasonry and to the Lodge. W. Bro. John Denton and W. Bro. Trevor Fray celebrated 60 years each. W. Bro. Bernard Frude and W. Bro. William (Bill) Cornish celebrated 50 years each. W. Bro. Richard Ebrey, Provincial Grand Secretary, read the Masonic Curriculum Vitae for each brother which was then followed by V.W. Bro. Nick Ball, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, presenting Certificates. In his address to each distinguished brother V.W. Bro Nick Ball commented on the uniqueness of the event and thanked each brother for their commitment to Freemasonry and to the Lodge. He then Presented their certificates.

W.Bro. Jon Munton, Master of the Lodge, then presented a Lodge certificate and a copy of the Minutes of the evening on which they were initiated into Freemasonry.

As if this was not enough, the audience of invited guests. Friends, family, and representatives of 14 local charities supported by Brethren of the Lodge were treated to a presentation of cheques on behalf of the Lodge by V.W. Bro. Nick Ball. V.W. Bro Ball Thanked each recipient for attending and commended them for all the work they do in our communities.

The whole ensemble then retired to the refectory for a most convivial festive board.
