Alec Collyer receives MBEAlec Collyer who is a member of Newton Lodge no. 6129 which meets in Newton Abbot can be seen here when he visited Buckingham Palace with his family last Tuesday.

Alec was awarded an MBE in the 2018 new years honours list for "Services to Dartmoor Rescue". He has been (and still is) involved for over 40 years in assisting the Police in Devon and Cornwall.

It's not just searching for those lost on Dartmoor, but also vulnerable and despondent people in urban areas and open countryside.

He was presented the medal by the Duke of Cambridge who is the President of Mountain Rescue England and Wales, and who was also a Search and Rescue Helicopter Pilot, so as Alec said "Appropriate".

The congratulations of All the members of the province of Devonshire go to Alec on receiving this wonderful award. It is well deserved and confirms the dedication he has shown to the “Dartmoor Rescue service” for nearly half a century..
