Last week Freemason Devon Co-ordinator of Teddies for Loving Care Keith Bower, North Devon Freemason Roger Heffer and Assistant Provincial Grant Master for Devonshire Charles Yelland visited the hospital with a new delivery of teddys to pass to the staff for the children being treated at North Devon District Hospital.
Amazingly, since 2008, the Devon Freemasons have donated a staggering 43,000 teddies for sick children in Devon, and nationally they aim to donate 3 million to hospitals across the UK by the end of 2018.

“The children are always delighted to receive these teddies. Some of our children who visit regularly have collected a team of them, all wearing different coloured jumpers. They really help to brighten a child’s day when they come into hospital. It can be very daunting for young children when they are admitted here and the teddies help us to put them at ease. The children take their teddy around the hospital with them – to our school, our children’s Ward, our children’s out-patients, theatre, A&E and x-ray and then they take them home to keep."

“The hospital charity cannot thank the Freemason’s enough for these little teds. They really do make a difference and it is really important we can help our children feel settled when they visit.”
