This year sees the Freemasons celebrate their tercentenary and as part of their annual support of Hospices throughout the country the Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Devonshire W. Bro. Chris Yard can be seen here presenting a certificate denoting the £1000 given on behalf of the Masonic Charitable Foundation to Emma Fisher of Hospiscare’s Pine Lodge in Tiverton.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation will this year give grants totalling £600,000 to the two hundred and forty five hospices in England and Wales including nearly £14,000 to seven hospices here in Devon as part of the £12 million given since 1984.

The Freemasons have been long term supporters of Pine Lodge Hospiscare in Tiverton and along with individual donations made by many of the 138 Lodges that meet throughout the county and the Masonic Charitable foundation together, they have donated nearly £100,000 to Hospiscare since 1994 when the Freemasons’ records began. On receiving the certificate, Emma, Day-care Senior Nurse at the hospice said, “I’m delighted to accept this certificate on behalf of Hospiscare. We’re very grateful for the Freemasons’ support – without it we couldn’t provide the high level of care that we want for our patients.”

Pine Lodge Hospice which can be found on Post Hill provides day-care services and high quality care and support to people with progressive life-limiting illness and their families from around the area.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W. Bro. Chris Yard on presenting the certificate said it’s always a delight to be here with such dedicated and wonderful people. The Freemasons are very happy to help by making this donation towards the on-going work of the hospice and appreciate the dedicated staff and volunteers who work here. Long may it continue.
